About Jon-Lee | Incidentals | Personal Mission Statement
Jon-Lee Kootnekoff is an inspirational, educational and entertaining man whose life is punctuated with outstanding achievement and success. He is a creative innovator and motivator with a Masters Degree in Education. He has taught and coached on all levels from elementary school to University for the past 40 years.
As an athlete, coach, parent, educator and entrepreneur, Jon-Lee Kootnekoff played on the Canadian Olympic Basketball Team, led the Simon Fraser University Clansmen to successive championships and taught school in Canada and the United States. Now, as President of the Horizon Institute, he conducts personal-growth seminars for schools, First Nations communities, corporations and government agencies. Using humour, compassion, modern concepts of self-image psychology and his own unique life experience, he helps young people and adults reach more of their innate human potential.
Upon graduation from Seattle University in 1961, Jon-Lee was voted to the American Colleges Universities "Who's Who" for his achievement in academics and athletics. He played in the N.C.A.A. finals in Louisville, Kentucky in 1958. He represented Canada in the 1960 Olympic Games (basketball). Played in 4 World Masters Games.
He has played on and coached six senior "A" basketball teams to Canadian Championships. He has coached numerous players who have played on Canada's National Team during the last thirty years. Voted as one of 1000 most physically fit sixtyfive and over Canadians, Jon-Lee is a film director, writer of "From Kooty with Love" and various other publications. Jon-Lee is also radio and television personality.
